The Ickworth comes with the 2012 upgraded, supersized, engineered uprights (legs), giving the climbing frame increased stability and strength. These engineered cedar uprights are now 8cm x 8cm and have been developed to give much less cracking, twisting and checking than in standard pine or spruce larger dimensional lumber. Our new uprights are soft to the touch, super-strong and are free from splinters, sharp edges or deep cracks that could harm delicate hands. The Selwood Products brand is synonymous with safety, fun and family. The Ickworth Climbing Frame is part of the Selwood Products Olympia Series.
This frame is perfect for those who want everything but don’t have a long enough garden to fit it all in. It showcases our brand new monkey bar/ swing combo beam which comes with two belt swings and a trapeze bar. The curved slide is also a superb space saver as it comes from the side of the frame and curves round to the front. The play deck is 120cm from the ground and can be reached by the monkey bars or the slatted rock wall at the rear of the frame. The monkey bar/swing beam combo is a clever and safe play feature which means you can have all the fun of a larger swing set without compromising on precious space.
The kids can make a speedy descent on the 300cm curved, wavy slide and then have a rest on one of the café stools which are attached to the front of the lower playhouse. The lower playhouse is entirely enclosed with a door frame to the rear, 2 small windows on the side walls and a big serving hatch at the front. It is the perfect place for children to let their imaginations run wild and play chef in their very own restaurant or shopkeeper in their very own shop. If you have budding little artists in the family, the Ickworth comes with a vinyl chalk board, situated on the 119cm by 90cm play deck, so they can scribble away ‘til their heart’s content and sketch the splendid view of the garden too. The upper play deck is covered by a gorgeous gable wooden roof which will shade little ones from the sun and keep off the rain. Our wooden rooves are renowned for their durability as well as their beauty.
The Ickworth playset is manufactured from cedar wood and pre-stained with an attractive redwood stain. The wood is also pre-cut and pre-drilled which helps make home-build as easy as possible. We also supply an illustrated owner’s manual showing you exactly how to build the set. All you’ll need is basic DIY tools. Our Climbing Frames are all free standing and cementing them into the ground is unnecessary, but to provide added stability, the Ickworth comes with a set of ground stakes, which fix it to the ground.
Please note: the fixings and instruction manual for the Selwood fort and roof will all come in the Olympia roof box.
This climbing frame is designed for children aged between 3 and 10 years of age and is tested (EN-71 & ASTM) to meet requirements for private residential use – this set is not suitable for commercial use.

Curved Slide
Curved slides look great and have a slightly longer ride too! The curved slide is an ideal option for those with a shorter garden as the slide starts from the side of the frame and finishes at the front. Our slides have extra high side rails to help children get onto the slide. The bottom of the slide is flatter to help children end with their feet (and not their bottoms!) on the ground. No more bumps and bruises and no more grass stains! This 90 degree curved slide is exclusive to our Selwood Products sets too.
Rockwall Ladder
This slatted rock wall ladder offers the best of both worlds for little climbers. For those who are feeling a little more adventurous, the moulded plastic climbing rocks are a natural choice for a daring climb. For those with a little less confidence, then the spaces between the ladder slats will provide an easier ascent to the top! The spaces between the slats are also easy to climb down - ideal if the queue for the slide is too long! Our rockwall ladders are a combination to ensure that all ages of children can enjoy them and maximise their use from the playset.
Monkey Bars
Monkey Bars are great fun as kids love to climb, hang and swing like monkey's, you can buy wooden money bar climbing frames with play equipment or on their own. Monkey bars are a great addition to a climbing frame and our wooden monkey bar set can be added to most of our climbing frame models.
Monkey bars offer the perfect excuse for kids to monkey around while building their core strength and improving their motor skills. Using monkey bars will help children improve their upper body strength, which will help with their posture and physical well being.
Our monkey bar climbers come in two varieties, the stand alone monkey bar, or the combination monkey bar and swings. Both have a ladder at the end, and easy grip rungs long the horizontal monkey climber. The monkey bar's are normally about 1.8m (6ft) from the ground.
Our monkey bars are manufactured from the same quality cedar wood as our climbing frames so they will come with a matching stain and wood finish. You can also be confident that our monkey bars will last, as cedar is resistant to rot, mold and insect infestation. They are specifically designed to be soft to touch so they are gentle on young hands so your children will spend more time enjoying their playset with no worries about splinters.
Our combination monkey bar climbers also offer the opportunity to have swings, or swing accessories attached to the beam too. This offers the opportunity to maximize space in your garden, so if you have a smaller garden you can still have both a swings and a monkey bar so you children get maximum enjoyment from their playset. Safety Notice: We advise Swings & Swing Accessories should be removed from a combination monkey bar swing before using it as a monkey bar.
1.2m (4ft) High Deck
The 1.22m (4ft) play deck height refers to the distance from the ground to the floor of the deck. Therefore the higher the deck height the further from the ground the deck is, the longer the rockwall to get up, and the slide to ride down.
Which deck height is most suitable for my children?
We suggest that the taller your children are the higher your deck should be, and it is also important to remember that the higher the deck the more use your children will get out of the climbing frame as they get older.
The 4ft deck is our most popular deck height as it is a fantastic comprimise between being a sensible height for smaller or younger children, and still high enough to keep older children amused.
Wooden Roof
Climbing frames with fully wooden roofs look amazing in your garden and provide your with a strong sturdy playset that will protect them from sunshine or rain.
Our playsets come with either a vinyl tarp roof, or a fully wooden roof.
Playhouse Package
Climbing Frames UK has a huge range of playsets and wooden climbing frames with fully incorporated wooden playhouse packages. The playhouse is situated directly below the fort play deck, and includes a door, two playhouse windows and a serving wall with two stools.
Chalk Wall
Drawing is the perfect way to encourage a child's creativity, and what better way than have a vinyl chalk wall on your playset from Climbing Frames UK! And with such a wonderful view as that from the top of the playhouse, who wouldn't want to draw it? The vinyl chalk wall is easy to wipe clean, so your little Monets and Rembrandts can keep their creative juices flowing!
Small Garden
A small garden doesn’t at all mean a climbing frame is an impossibility. To make your buying experience that much simpler we have suggested which climbing frames best suit which sized gardens. We completely understand that not everyone has acres and acres of land to fill with outdoor play equipment. It was important to us that we considered those with smaller gardens and because of that we have a range of climbing frames which are ideal for smaller spaces. They are more compact in size yet still have plenty of features to keep the little monsters fully entertained.
Medium Garden
Medium gardens make a great home for a whole host of our fabulous climbing frames. However, we do advise that you carefully consider the size of the garden you plan to put the climbing frame in before making your final decision.
