Wednesday Adventurer – Bear Grylls

Here at Climbing Frames HQ we want to salute those amongst us who have an extra ordinary sense of adventure. Every other Wednesday we will feature someone who truly inspires us to get out there and enjoy life to the fullest. This is a great opportunity to spend time with your children creating a scrap book or project. Let us know how you get on. Do your children have any favourite adventurers? Post pictures of your projects on our facebook wall http://www.facebook.com/ClimbingFrames

The first adventurer in our Wednesday Adventurer series

Bear Grylls' choice of climbing frame - Stonybrook Lodge

Kid’s love climbing frames, trampolines and swing sets because they love the sense of adventure they bring to their back garden. Using their greatest gift, their imagination, a Sheridan can be the deepest darkest jungle or a Balmoral a Pirate ship full of treasure. Encouraging a sense of adventure in children is a fantastic way of helping them learn and grow. Our job here at Climbing Frames UK is to do exactly that – encourage adventure. No one does that more that Bear Grylls – even his name is exciting (although he was born Edward Michael Grylls – let’s stick to Bear).

From a young age he was taught to climb and sail as well as practice martial arts. He then went on to spend three years as a soldier in the British Special Forces serving with 21 SAS. Despite a free-fall parachuting accident in Africa, where he broke his back in three places, Bear went on to become one of the youngest ever climbers to reach the summit of Mount Everest (or a Belfort).  Not content with that he has also led record breaking expeditions from Antarctica to the Arctic. Bear now holds the prestigious title as the youngest ever Chief Scout to 28 million scouts worldwide and was awarded an honorary commission as a Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy. In his famous Man vs. Wild TV series Bear battles some of the most extreme conditions on the planet such as dense jungle in Borneo, the Sahara desert in Africa and the Arctic Circle.

Bear would buy: Stonybrook Lodge Climbing Frame.
