Learn how to make the most of your garden this summer

The rain is gone, summer is here and we’re all thinking about spending more time outdoors enjoying the garden. For parents, making the garden fun is a must if you want to drag the kids away from the television and outside into the sun. Whether it’s a climbing frame, a sandpit or a trampoline, a new fixture is a great idea, however as soon as you buy something new and exciting for your garden, inevitably the whole neighbourhood wants to come and have a nose!
So if that’s happening, you need to make sure your garden is the perfect place to host friends and family and there are plenty courses and classes on offer across the UK that will teach you how.

Beautifully blooming

Gardening CoursesA gardening course is the obvious choice to tidy up your buds and blooms but where do you start with finding the right one? You’ll need to decide which type of learning best suits you – one to one, or in a classroom scenario? There are gardening classes that can be taken in your own home, where a tutor comes to you and gives you tips based on your own outdoor space. Plus for anyone who is a fan of flowers, a floristry course will teach you how to arrange them beautifully as well as how to care for them in the ground.

Host with the most

If you’re the type that likes to go above and beyond when entertaining, a party planning course will help you throw the best bash on the street. From how to lay out your food to finding the best way to entertain your guests, you’ll learn loads about being a great host. Or, if you want to impress your guests with your creativity, take a wood carving course and make sculptures to decorate your outdoor venue. There are even woodwork courses that will teach you to make benches or a garden trellis.

Food for thought

Kids & Family PicnicNo garden party is complete without a delicious spread for guests to munch on. There are so many cookery courses out there that will teach you how to conjure up culinary delights, but why not focus your studies on party food and canapés? These courses will teach you how to make mini snacks and you’ll get to know which foods are best for the occasion. On the other hand, if we’re lucky enough to get a good dose of sunshine this summer, a BBQ cooking class could be the answer to keeping things simple yet scrumptious.

For the kids

Though the kids will have plenty to keep them busy if you’ve just bought them something fun, a few lessons in entertaining children could be handy to spark their imaginations. You’ll get to know what they really like and also be given tips of games you could try with them. If it’s a trampoline you’ve bought though, why not organise lessons for the little ones in advance so they can show off tricks and bouncing techniques to their friends?
