Sochi Winter Olympics 2014 for Lizzy Yarnold has turned into an experience she will never forget winning a gold medal in the Skeleton on Friday.
Team GB had their first gold medal of 2014 Sochi Games with Lizzy Yarnold who swept to victory in the skeleton final.
Yarnold was a favourite for a medal ahead on the games her reaction to winning was “I still can’t believe it at all. I can’t wait until the awards ceremony so that I can have the gold medal around my neck”.
Setting new course records on both her first and third run Lizzy didn’t succumb to the pressure of being one of Team GB’s top gold medal hopes of the Sochi Games 2014, she took it all in her stride and done her country proud!
The 25 year old only took up skeleton in 2008 and with the success in Sochi she will be expected to be sliding again in the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics with high hopes of more medals.
