Motivating our young people to be more active is so important. The ‘Change4Life’ scheme in England and Wales, the ‘Take Life On’ scheme in Scotland and the ‘Get A Life, Get Active’ scheme in Northern Ireland have all been running since the year 2009, encouraging families to eat healthier and be more active.
Good nutrition is a major element for good health. It is advised by the above schemes to eat five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. We need to make a conscious effort to avoid too many sugary foods like chocolate, sweets and cakes – it would be sad to live without them, so in small amounts, we can still enjoy them!
A healthy, balanced diet needs to be complemented by regular exercising for it to be effective. Exercise not only helps to keep us in shape, it also improves our general morale. With modern technology nowadays, sometimes going outside and playing in the garden is the last thing that kids want to do. That’s where we come in.
Our climbing frames, trampolines and other outdoor toys are perfect or encouraging your children to play out of doors. Every time they go outside, they will enter their own imaginative world and be challenged by the play equipment, tiring them out, using up their energy, improving their motor skills and giving them an opportunity for socialising and making new friends! Come bedtime, they’ll be really tired – meaning a peaceful night and a lie-in for Mum and Dad the next day. Perfect!
