Phase 1 - Choose your base fort deck height

We offer a selection of deck heights for our wooden fort structures. These suit a selection of ourdoor play situations and can make a difference depending on your ideal layout and accessories. We have detailed a few questions you need to ask your self before selecting a deck height.

How old are the children that will be using the playset?
Remember, children grow, fast. Purchasing a playset that fits them now will soon mean that they outgrow the challenges and excitement that a small rock wall, rope ladder or slide can have. The minimum deck height our playsets have is 1.52m (5ft) older children will require a more challenging playsystem to

How many children will be using the playset at once?
If you have a large family, or if you regularly entertain friends and neighbours, then you should ensure you consider the number of features and activities you should include. Two swings could cause problems if there are three children, unless you ensure you also include other features such as a rock wall, rope ladder, or fire mans pole to keep them amused.

Will I be putting the playset onto a safety surface?
Also consider the surface you are putting the playset onto. Our sets do not need concreting into the ground, their weight holds them in place and they come with ground anchors to ensure they don't move, so most people stand them directly onto grass. Some people put them onto safety surfacing such as play bark, rubber bark or safety mats, but for this you must consider the safety surface depth needed for the critical fall height (deck height) or your chosen Backyard Adventures playset.

How much space do I have available?
A higher deck has the benefit of a longer slide and a higher rock wall, but if you are limited for space you must also consider that these will take up more room.
